Did you know that in order for a theory to be considered it must be able to proven wrong. This stems from the idea of the Falsification Principle developed by Karl Popper which states that a theory can only be considered scientific if it can be tested and can be proven false.
Who is Karl Popper?
Popper is a British philosopher all the way back from the early 1900s. He studied the social sciences.
Why?
Popper believed that true science was something that was able to be challenged and falsified, unlike a pseudoscience which he believes seeks evidence to prove its truth. He believed that if we study science in this pseudo-like science we would neglect small detail or things that may disapprove our hypothesis.
How to write a good hypothesis?
In order to write a good hypothesis, It is important to have an if-then statement. (EX: If this ball fall down, it will bounce up) This allows having an emphasis on the independent and dependent variables. Independent meaning something that you are manipulating and something that is not affected by the other variables. While dependent variables are fully dependent on what the independent variable does.
